Overview

A competitive business environment is the foundation of private sector growth. The CEOrt promotes engagement with government to ensure a fiscal and regulatory framework that supports private sector development — advocating for the reforms that make it simpler to start, run and grow a business in Tanzania.

The CEO Roundtable continues to advocate for meaningful Public Private Dialogue (PPD) for an enhanced policy and regulatory framework in support of an improved business environment and investment climate.

“The CEOrt promotes engagement with government to ensure a fiscal and regulatory framework that supports private sector development.”

Challenges vs our response

The challenges businesses face

  • Complex and shifting tax administration that raises compliance costs for formal businesses.

  • Regulatory overlap between agencies that slows licensing, permits and approvals.

  • Unpredictable policy changes that undermine long-term investment planning.

  • Cross-border trade frictions that limit access to regional and continental markets.

How the CEOrt responds

  • Structured dialogue with government on tax administration — including our engagement on Strengthening Public-Private Dialogue on Tax Administration.

  • Evidence-based submissions drawing on expertise within the membership and curated economic research.

  • Advocacy for a stable, predictable fiscal and regulatory framework that supports private sector development.

  • Championing AfCFTA ratification and positioning Tanzania as a leading investment destination.
